Education is more than gaining knowledge. It can be a way to become more independent, feel more confident, find new opportunities and take a more active role in everyday life and the community.

This is the idea at the heart of EDURom.

The EDURom project supports Roma adults in developing practical digital and soft skills that can make a real difference in everyday life. From using technology with greater confidence to communicating more effectively, solving everyday challenges and building stronger connections with others, the project focuses on skills that can be used beyond the classroom.

Learning skills that make a difference

Digital skills have become an essential part of everyday life. Using online services, communicating through digital tools, searching for reliable information or navigating the digital world can open access to education, employment and many other opportunities.

But digital skills are only part of the picture.

EDURom also focuses on soft skills — communication, confidence, problem-solving, teamwork and other abilities that help people navigate everyday situations and the workplace. These skills can support personal development and make it easier to take the next step, whether that means continuing education, looking for a job or becoming more actively involved in the community.

The goal is not simply to learn something new, but to make that learning useful.

From learning to new opportunities

One of the important elements of EDURom is connecting non-formal learning with opportunities to gain micro-qualifications.

Micro-qualifications can provide a flexible way to develop specific competences and strengthen a person’s profile for further education or employment. By creating pathways towards learning and recognised skills, EDURom aims to make education more accessible and relevant to the needs of Roma adults.

The project therefore looks beyond a single course or workshop. It seeks to create opportunities for continued learning and development.

Education that starts with real needs

For education to make a difference, it needs to respond to the people it is intended for.

That is why EDURom includes research into the educational needs, experiences and barriers faced by Roma communities. Understanding what prevents people from accessing education — as well as what motivates them to learn — is an important part of developing meaningful and effective educational activities.

The project also brings together organisations from different European countries to exchange experiences, explore good practices and develop approaches that can be adapted to different communities.

This international cooperation is an important part of EDURom. By learning from one another, project partners can discover new perspectives and approaches to inclusive adult education.

Building stronger communities through learning

EDURom is based on a simple idea: when people have access to learning, skills and opportunities, they are better equipped to participate in society and shape their own future.

Supporting Roma adults in developing new competences can contribute to greater independence, employability and confidence. At the same time, it can strengthen connections within the wider community and contribute to a more inclusive society.

Education cannot solve every challenge on its own. But access to the right knowledge, skills and support can be an important first step towards change.

That is why EDURom puts people at the centre of the project — their needs, experiences, potential and opportunities to grow.
