The EDURom – Education for Social Inclusion of Roma project has recently been featured in Croatian local media, helping to bring the project’s goals, activities, and opportunities closer to the wider public.
The Croatian local news portal BBZ Info published an article entitled “CUK Bjelovar and the EDURom Project: Knowledge, Skills and Real Opportunities”, presenting the project and highlighting the role of the Centre for Lifelong Learning and Culture Bjelovar (CUK Bjelovar) as the project coordinator.

From education to real opportunities
EDURom focuses on developing educational opportunities that respond to the actual needs of Roma adults, with particular attention to digital skills, soft skills, non-formal learning, and access to formal education programmes leading to micro-credentials.
One of the important activities within the project is the research of the educational needs of the target group. By learning more about participants’ experiences, motivation, interests, and barriers to education, project partners can develop learning opportunities that are better adapted to the people they are intended to support.
The ultimate goal is not simply to provide access to learning, but to connect knowledge and skills with real-life opportunities – including greater employability, personal development, and more active participation in society.
Connecting European cooperation with the local community
CUK Bjelovar is implementing EDURom together with project partners Academia Rromai from Austria and Pe Bune from Romania, within the Erasmus+ programme.
International cooperation is an important part of the project, enabling partners to exchange experiences, explore good practices, and develop approaches that can contribute to more accessible and inclusive education for Roma communities.
One example of this cooperation was the LTTA activity “Educational Opportunities for Roma: Challenges and Solutions”, held in Vienna. The activity brought partners together to discuss challenges related to Roma education, exchange experiences, and learn about good practices in Austria.
Why local media visibility matters
Being featured in local media is an important part of communicating the EDURom project beyond the organisations directly involved in its implementation.
Media coverage helps introduce the project to a wider audience, including local communities, educational institutions, organisations, employers, decision-makers, and potential participants. It also creates space for broader public discussion about the importance of education, inclusion, equal opportunities, and lifelong learning for Roma communities.
