As part of the EDURom – Education for Roma Social Inclusion project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme, the first InfoDays session was held in Roșiorii de Vede, Romania, organised and delivered by EDURom project partner Pe Bune.

The meeting brought together people from vulnerable communities, with a particular focus on members of the Roma community, to openly discuss access to education, vocational training and the concrete steps needed to create real learning and development opportunities.

Starting with real experiences

The InfoDays were an opportunity to introduce participants to EDURom, its goals and the activities planned within the project. But the meeting was not only about presenting information.

An important part of the session was listening to participants and learning from their own experiences.

The discussions addressed interrupted educational pathways, skills participants already have, professional interests, available time and the types of support they need to take the next step in their education or professional development.

These conversations are essential for understanding the barriers people face and the kinds of opportunities that could be genuinely useful and accessible to them.

Listening before creating solutions

One of the key principles of EDURom is that educational opportunities should respond to real needs.

Through conversations, questionnaires and focus groups, the project partners are gathering insights that will help shape future activities. Instead of assuming what people need, EDURom creates space for participants to explain their experiences, interests and expectations themselves.

This approach allows the project to look beyond statistics and general assumptions and focus on the people behind them.

Inclusion starts with listening

For Pe Bune, the first InfoDays session in Roșiorii de Vede was an important opportunity to connect directly with the community and open a dialogue about education, skills and future opportunities.

For EDURom, these conversations are an important part of the wider project journey.

We believe that inclusion starts with listening, trust and solutions adapted to the people they are intended to support.

Education can become a clearer path when people have access to the right support, enough time and patience, and environments in which their experiences and aspirations are taken seriously.

The insights gathered during the InfoDays will contribute to the further development of EDURom activities and help us build educational opportunities that are more relevant, accessible and connected to the realities of the communities involved.
